Shoe Review – Dressy orthotic friendly shoes they do exist: Aravon Maya vs. Aravon Mia
I have really enjoyed selling the Mia and now Aravon has come out with the Maya, and it is great! The Mia has been one of my go to shoes for customers that need a stiffer front (rocker sole) but also want to be a little dressier. Both the Maya and Mia are built on the Stridarc Rocker Sole which has a bi-fit board embedded in the outsole. This bi-fit board works with the foot to give great support to mitigate impact on many of the tiny joints and muscles in the ball of the foot. Also offering optimal comfort is the 3mm thick contoured memory foam insole that is removable if you need to put in an over the counter or custom orthotic in.
Both shoes are built on a 1.5 inch heel with a very nice heel to toe slant. This means that you will not be putting too much pressure on the ball of your feet. This is one of the most important things I look for when I purchase shoes for my stores. We want the weight to be distributed as evenly as possible.
As for the differences in the shoes: The Maya has been fitting a little deeper in the toe box than the Mia which has been good for customers with bunions or wider feet. It also comes up a little higher over the toes covering just a little more of the foot. The strap on the Maya is a Velcro closure instead of a buckle giving much more adjustment availabilities.
For the Mia the only real problem is that it has the cut outs by the bunion areas and sometimes that can cause rubbing for customers.

If you like this shoe you can also try the Morgan, Maddie and their great selection of sandals!

I agree that the Maya is a winner. We haven't had the Mia so I can't really compare the two. The Maya has a nice roomy toe box and accomodates bunions very well. Most of our customers who have tried it on love the looks and feel. In fact we sold our first pair before we'd hardly even unpacked them when they came in.
Another winner among the new shoes from Aravon is the Jenna. Jenna is a flat that can be dressed up or go casual. The soft leather upper, stretch fabric over the instep, and combination last make it a real good fitting shoe. It too has the removeable insole to allow the placement of custom orthotics or OTCs. Like Maya, Jenna is a shoe that most of our customers love when they try it on.
I second Chris's endorsement of Maya and nominate Jenna as two of the best new styles from Aravon.

A couple of days ago I had a wedding albums perfect example of the fact that many times the size of an OTC and the size of the shoe that a person will wear are not the same. A customer I wedding music
waited on measured 12 1/2-13 on his arch length and I ended up fitting a size 14 Lynco arch support on him. The Ariat shoe I fit him in ended up being a size 11 1/2. I did have to trim the front of the Lynco to fit. So this illustrates why you need to be fitted for both the arch wedding hair supports and the shoes and not just assume that they will be the same size. That's why we at SHOES-n-FEET take the time to fit both to your feet.wedding registry

I have a pair of sandals...thinking of sending them back. Can anyone feel the balls in the toe base of the shoes or is it just me? Comfy in the heel part, but the toe box area is problematic.

Very important, time management and the creative flow. A great way to get into the creative flow is by utilizing time wisely concentrating through meditation.
