The Overwellming Sucess of the Haitian Shoe Drive in Molly Hightower's Memory

SHOES-n-FEET® Sends Hundreds of Shoes to Haiti

Company teams up with Service Steel Aerospace in humanitarian effort

Thanks to customers and the community at large, SHOES-n-FEET collected nearly 500 pairs of shoes to benefit the people of Haiti.  Held in memory of Molly Hightower, a young American who perished in the earthquake, the shoe drive received an immediate and strong response.

“We were overwhelmed by the generosity of the community,” said Bob Boustedt, co-owner of SHOES-n-FEET stores in Federal Way and Tacoma.  “The appeal went out on a Friday at 5pm.  At 5:55 a customer walked into our Federal Way store carrying three large shopping bags full of used shoes.  You can’t ask for a quicker response than that!”  

“Service Steel Associates reached out to us with their shoe drive program and we were honored to help them realize Molly Hightower’s dream of procuring shoes for Haiti,” said Boustedt.    Molly worked with disabled and orphaned children in Haiti through Friends of the Orphans.

Molly Hightower’s causes was procuring shoes for those in need.  Tragically Molly Hightower was killed during the devestating Haiti earthquake.  Friends and family of Molly Hightower are working on two fundraisers to help survivors of the devastating Haiti earthquake to continue on her work in helping the people of Haiti.

Molly Hightower's nobel work to donate hundreds of shoes to orphans and disabled adults in Haiti will continue in her memory.  Her father's employer, Service Steel Aerospace of Tacoma is collecting shoes to send to Haiti.  Since Molly Hightower began the drive in November 2009, over 400 pairs of shoes have been donated.  SHOES-n-FEET of Federal Way and Tacoma are proud to be able to help the friends and family of Molly Hightower continue Molly's work. 

From now until February 15th, all Service Steel locations will be collecting shoes for the people of Haiti. We encourage you to get involved as well! If your company would also like to collect shoes, please send or drop off your pairs of shoes (please tie or bind them together) at any of our 4 locations from 9am – 4pm (Monday – Friday)  Or you may bring your gently used shoes to either the Federal Way or Tacoma SHOES-n-FEET locations.

SHOES-n-FEET® in Tacoma and Federal Way is pleased to announce its annual holiday shoe drive. 

This year we are supporting Soles4Souls, a charity that donates shoes to victims of natural disasters and those living in extreme poverty.


 

Please visit our store during the month of December and drop off any “gently worn” shoes you no longer wear. 

As our way of saying thanks, you will receive a

$10 Gift Coupon from SHOES-n-FEET.

 

 

Every 13 seconds, Soles4Souls (www.giveshoes.org) gives away another pair of shoes to someone in need. 

You can participate by bringing in any unused shoes taking up space in your closet.  Help us improve someone’s life in the most difficult of times.

Soles 4 Souls is an organization which facilitates the donation of shoes to be used to aid those in need worldwide.  Shoe companies, retailers and individuals can donate.  Please come to SHOES-n-FEET during the month of December and donate your gently used shoes.  More than 300 million children around the world are without shoes and here in American closets there are estimated to be over 1.5 billion pairs of idle shoes.
